I wonder...? Do you think such genes could be the product of ....GASP....EVOLUTION!

My belief in evolution, is PROOF it's true.

Hmmmm....

OMG!

I think, therefore, God doesn't exist!

That's an interesting question. Is belief in god attributed to nature or nurture? My mum was going to be a catholic nun (very glad she didn't so that I was able to come into this world), and i went to a very relgious school, however I'm super atheist. Therefore neither nature or nurture played any role in my free thinking. I think some people are more inclinded to believe in myths and superstitions including god, but I don't know whether that's determined by your genetic make up, or your surroundings. Fantastic question you asked there.

Some geneticists think there is a genetic marker that indicates a tendency toward religious experiences. This has been dubbed "the God gene". Needless to say, this is a subject of some controversy.

I think it is has an influence. i would think that if u asked a scientist if he thought there was life anywhere in the entire universe he would tell your your an idiot if u dont. i believe it has more to do with what unseen_force_22 said: "At least I know there are those ruled by logic and rationality" i defenatey aggree with that. but the way you are raised and the experience and influences of your life have probably more of an influence on the subject but i defenatly believe that some more intelligent people will go with logic.

No,
But your logical thinking is predetermined by the genes
similar to your tendency to be a Right handed or Left handed.

so given a condition to be logical in relation to god one will decide his beliefs

So if some one wont encounter argument in that regard chances that he will be an athiest is '0'.

Well if you believe in god, doesn't that make absolutely no sense at all. Why would a god create people just to have them not believe in him? People who don't believe in god just have more common sense than people who do believe.

Beliefs are not genetically determined.

I was raised by Christians and I'm an atheist.

I doubt it. There are some religious families with one or more of the next generation finding themselves atheist and the other way around. I think it's a matter of personal belief.

If not believing guarantees a ticket to hell, why would God condemn a person to hell from the get-go? That makes absolutely no sense.
