I read The Mayan Prophecies when it came out. It didn't even stick in my head. I don't think I liked it much.
Some end-time books I DO like:
Maya Cosmogenesis 2012 gives detailed information on the 12-21-2012 "end-date" and has great research behind it.
05/05/2000 has a lot of information on pole shifts (even though one didn't happen on 05/05/2000).
Pole Shift is obviously just about pole shifts.
I have another one too, but it's home and I'm at work and I can't remember the name of it. I will try to edit this later and add it. It's by a woman and I can see the cover in my mind...sorry.
Links to all books below.

A good site that lists all bible prophecy is here
http://www.exodus2006.com
it has hopi, mayan, book of Enoch, biblical and
bible codes, I have researched apocolyptic prophecy for about 1 year now so email
me anytime with quesitons.
library can have some good resources too.
mayan's were convincced of 5 levels of life and sprituality and that the world would definitly end before 2025.

Like, yeah, man. ... The Mayan Prophecies, published 1995 is by Adrian Gilbert and Maurice Cotterell.

I haven't read it, but I have heard of it.
