A peripheral is a device that is external to the computer, not internal. A mouse or a keyboard would be a peripheral because they are outside the box. A normal hard drive would not because it is inside the box. However, you can buy external hard drives that connect by the USB port and are outside the box. One of those external hard drives would be a peripheral.

Its an hardware component. A peripheral really is a device that isn't apart of the essential pc such as speakers & Mice etc
