When shopping around for an attorney, what qualities are important to you?

#1..that he or she actually practices the type of law that you need, and preferably is a specialist.

#2..how well the interview goes.

Unfortunately my two biggest peeves with lawyers are hard to determine in advance. I hate when they don't do what they are being paid to do in a timely fashion, and I hate when they let matters get continued just because the other side asked (both of which can cost you more money).

If you can get a referral from someone who has actually used the lawyer before, that can be a big help.

I never hire an attorney who advertise. My brother-in-law is a very successful attorney in Arizona and he says that only bad lawyers need to advertise. I am most interested in education, experience, and percentage of cases won or settled.

His experience the type of lawyer I need s Corporate from Criminal and so on. His Fee-what I can afford and would ck him out with Better Business Bureau and the equivalent for attorney.

Honesty, professionalism, well presented, good track record, and I need to get the feeling that when I walk out of the room you're going to get right to work on my case. I've shopped for lawyers for a few different reasons and have had some very good experiences, and one very bad one. People come to a lawyer because they need them. Not because they want one. It's important to convey that you understand this.

Be aware of his associates,because you will be working with them and also,his paralegals.Shop around for a good"team".You may find yourself in a lurch one day,and don't assume these others know your whole story.Keep your own notes at all times with you,copies of all that was given to your attorney,for a day when your attoney is in court,...and you need to go!!
