You women can babble on and on all you want, but the guys get right down to it. They're honest, and not trying to act like something their not. Why are women such phonies?

When you say "they're deceivers", you answer your own question. A lot of guys have been taught by the nature of manhood to "bullshit" people or women in order to get out of awkward situations instead of learning to face them like most women. What Yahoo! Answers is built around is people bullshitting other people in order to please them. That's what us guys do... generally speaking, that is.
Love,
The Bullshitting Master!

We're deceivers? What's going on here? Did I miss the memo?
Everyone, girl, boy, man, woman has the capacity to deceive.
For the most part, men don't buy into flowery language and vague statements. Women, again only for the most part as there are always exceptions, are more delicate the way they put things. It may come off as phony, but I think most girls take better care with what they say. It's often the purview of the man to just barge in and say something without tact nor grace.
But everyone deceives. But even when people lie they are telling the truth, even if they don't know it. To lie, you have to talk, and the more you talk the more you will accidentally let slip about yourself. Why? Why does the truth always come out, even when in an act of deception? Because telling the truth puts a lot less strain on the memory.
I personally like to think about what I'm going to say. I don't say something if I know I wont be able to say it well. And there is a large part of me that likes to play things close to the chest.
My two cents...

Your question is worded in such a way as to make it an oxymoron.
If men give the most honest and direct answers but are deceivers.........you are saying they are both honest and dishonest at the same time.
I also feel women are very truthful while perhaps using a few extra words to make herself absolutely clear and that is not a bad thing.
Anyone can answer "yes" or "no". In most questions an little explanation is a good thing.

Depends on the woman. Some women believe in getting right to the point - and that can scare off a guy. So then what?
Yes, some women would rather not offend a guy -- it has to do with his ego which can be rather fragile. Some guys can turn violent, too, when they are told the truth. So some women are gun-shy and would rather let the guy down gently and hope he gets the hint without getting subsequently clingy and obnoxious.
And there's a difference between guys and men. I would rather date men -- they are scarce but are gems. Guys are everywhere and half the time don't really know what they want.

Okay, wait. Let's clarify this. Guys are straight forward deceivers, but women, who are taking a little more time to get to the point, are phoney? I don't get your logic here. I tend to find that men lie more readily to get themselves off the hook, and simple lies are the easiest for them to tell. I can tell you're probably young and single.
Now, let's pose this question as an example.
You buy a dress. You ask your man, "Does this look good on me?" Without fail, he'll say yes. Even if he knows you look like you need to be milked and put out to graze. Why? A: He wants what's under that awful thing you're wearing. B: He knows he's in the dog house if he's honest. And he's not that creative.
Now, ask your girl that same question... She'll go on and on about how its not the best color for you, doesn't go with your shoes, blah, blah blah.... Not the most direct route to honesty, but more honest than the guy who just told you yes to get you out the door because he wanted to eat dinner an hour ago. Now, girls are more afraid to say exactly what they think because they don't want to hurt someone's feelings. Hence that whole backstabber thing. They would love to tell you that your cow get up is hideous, but don't want to make you feel bad. Unless they just don't like you, then there's that whole backstabber thing... but that's another issue entirely.

Not all women are phonies. Direct answers aren't always the best. Not all men are deceivers.
You contradicted yourself in the question. You put that men were deceivers, then you put that they're honest. So which is it that you see men as? Liars or truth tellers?
As you could see, I'm one of the babblers and dam proud of it.

I think that as a generally rule, men are not as bothered by things. We do not really bother about lying as we find it a pointless exercise. This is the direct nature of men.
Someone told me a story once before.
In the prehistoric times, men would hunt and women would gather. The men would congregate and hunt one particular animal while the women would look and see before deciding what to gather for the day. Maybe...MAYBE....this instinct is still with us today.

The guys are just doing it because they aren't in direct contact with the women they give the advice to. You know damn good and well most guys out there wouldn't dare tell a woman how it is to her face.

Guys lie just as often as women. I don't see it as one group is a bigger phonie then the other it comes done to people. not male or female just that person may be a bigger phonie.
