It all depends on how you like your job and if it's really worth it. If the pay is good, you can manage well financially, and love doing what you're doing; then keep the job and get use to it. If the pay is bad, can't handle the boss' attitude, and the job isn't exactly what you imagine doing for the next two years...pick yourself out of that dump and find yourself another job that you find suitable.

I believe you should ask your employer for an allowance towards your new work clothes, but keep in mind that it is not always something you are going to get. I believe you can write off the purchase of uniforms on your tax return at the end of the year. If this is something you enjoy doing, then ask, the worst you can hear is "No"

Hello,
If you do not make enough money to purchase work clothes or you dont want to put your hard earned money into outfits you are going to ruin. Maybe you could bring up to your employer to provide a uniform like proffesional painting outfit or something that everyone would agree on. Something that looks nice he wont have to worry about what his employees are wearing. maybe something that you could wear over your clothes even.

I think that your employer should now provide you with new clothing unless when you were hired you were told that you were to provide your own. But if you like your job enough then you might have to make the sacrifice if your employer isn't going to reimburse you.

You should ask your employer to provide protective clothing like coveralls or painter's whites that go over your street clothes but it's unreasonable for you to ask them to pay for anything else. It's appropriate for them to expect you look clean and presentable, especially if you will be dealing with clients/customers.

No. If your employer isn't willing to invest in you then why should you buy clothes that you would never be able to use again in any other job.

If it is absolutely unavoidable to keep yourself clean, then ask for reimbursement. If none given then complain about it. Look to different job opportunites if that doesn't help.
