This was sent by a soldier who is home for two weeks from Baghdad. I think it says it all...
As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything that has happened. I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of you during my two week leave back home. And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in Iraq that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you. This is the list of things that has happened in Iraq recently: (Please share it with your friends and compare it to the version that your paper is producing)

I don't think some of those numbers are correct... I've heard multiple times from multiple sources (both U.S. and international) about how the insurgents have been targeting the water and electric supplies in Iraq and how the vast majority don't have the access to both water and power that they did before the war...
it's not the troops fault, granted, but doesn't paint the rosy picture that you do...

I think most of us understand that our troops have done good over there. What I have a problem with is when is it going to be enough? How long are we supposed to hold their hand? We need to take a look in our own back yard at ppl living in alleys, kids whose parents can't afford health insurance. Our troops are dying to make their living conditions more tolerable? Enough is enough. Seriously what is next do we send our troops to every other hostile country that doesn't have running water and good hospitals until every country but the U.S. is thriving?

People ignore the truth when it does not support their point of view. Bush bashers cannot concede that progress is being made in Iraq. Let's see what they say if a Dem gets in office next time.

yeah, and half the stuff you said is hyperbole and exageration.
They finally have water to drink? Guess what? Thats kewl, but under saddam, they had water to drink, and under usa occupation, they didn't for several years.
No matter how you cut it, it was a bad idea war, we went for reasons that were lies, 2500 American soldiers died, millions of Iraqis died, no, its not good, its bad.

Thank you. YES bad things have happened, but why can people not be happy for ANY of the good things? Be grateful you don't live there.
There are bad effects of war. Why, I ask, are the liberals and democrats too close minded to see any good?

Imagine what could happen if the same sense of urgency that brought all this about were applied in the US to give people HERE a better life.

that's good news on the outside, but bad news in the long run. the u.s. just put themselves into position to attack iran and other countries in the future. it's good news for the civilians there now, but bad news for all of us in time...
