the Vietnamese embassy in Japan's website seems to be down.
I don't live in Tokyo so I can't just walk up to the embassy. I know a travel agency could do it if I booked with them, but I'm buying my ticket on my own. Help please.

I know that if I travel to Vietnam from the States, I can possibly obtain a Vietnamese visa from the Vietnamese Custom Office at any Vietnamese airport upon arrival there. If it's possible for Americans from the US, it should be possible for Americans from Japan, I would think. Ask the airlines company from where you purchased the ticket, they'll provide you the right know-hows advice for this sort of thing.
Good luck !

You'll have to wait until the website comes back up, go to the embassy yourself, or break down and purchase your ticket through the travel agent. Which is less of a pain to you? If you're on a tight schedule, I'd go with the travel agent. If you can wait a bit, I'd go with the website or traveling to Tokoyo.

go to shinjuku by jr. get off at the harujuku stop. there, get on the chiyoda(green) line(metro) and go to the yoyogikoen station. exit there and turn right. go across the railroad tracks on your right and then proceed up the stairs. at the top of the stairs go to the right. walk along that main street for about three blocks(the second street light i think). at the light, cross the street (there is a lot of construction right now) to the other side. walk straight up a little street that goes uphill. go straight up the hill until it dead ends and splits. take the split to the right. then go to the end of that street (its short) and then turn left. walk up to the first street corner. the visa embassy is on that corner. there is a sign. you can also ask one of the traffic directors at the construction area too! good luck! (it takes like 20minute too!) nice! (bring 5000yen and a passport)
