13+(-12)-(-15)=-16 because you subract 13 from 12 and get one. Then you are left with 1-(-15). When you have two negatives they become a positive. Then the problem becomes 1+15=16

HOPE THAT HELPS!

The Problem: 13+(-12)-(-15)= ?

Okay, the first thing you should do is to get rid of the parenthesis. Before each parenthesis, you can put an invisible one:

13+1(-12)-1(-15) = ?

Because of the rule of orders of operations, you must multiply before you add, right? So, multiply positive one times negative twelve. Then replace your answer back into the problem.

13+1(-12)-1(-15) = ?
+1 x -12 = -12
13 - 12 - 1(-15) = ?

Do the exact same thing for the multiplication problem with the negative 1 and the negative 15. A negative number times a negative number will have an answer that is positive. Then replace your answer back into the problem.

13 - 12 - 1(-15) = ?
-1 x -15 = +15
13 - 12 + 15 = ?

Now, it should be easy, right?

13 - 12 + 15 = 16!

When you have a double negative, you add, so it would become + 15. Adding a negative is the same as subtracting, so the expression would become 13-12+15, which equals 16 (interestingly is not a choice....I wonder why?)

any time you see + - as in 13+(-12)....leave the negative sign there.
any time you see - - as in -(-15), turn that into a +

the equation becomes 13-12+15
13-12=1 1+15=16

16 should be the answer

Ur difficulty lies on this part. just know
- ( - a ) = + a
- (+ a ) = - a
+ ( - a ) = - a
+ ( + a ) = + a
therefore, 13+(-12)-(-15)
= 13 - 12 + 15
= 1 + 15
= 16
The given Choices are wrong.

it's easiest if you break it up:
13+(-12)=1 adding a negative=subtracting
replace the finished part with the answer
1-(-15)=16 subtracting a negative=adding

16

13+(-12)-(-15)
=> 13-12+15 --> +*- = -12 and -(-15) = +15
=> 1+15
=> 16

I am so sure it's 16, I think you mistyped your answers. For "C" it is 6 and i think it should be 16.

Hope you understand my solution for your problem.

Good luck :)

when two negative signs are together, they create a plus sign.
So you can just think that that equation is

13-12+15

and if you do the addition and subtraction, you get 16
so I suppose the answer is NOTA(none of the above)
