I would say that the intelligent answer would be the one to choose. It took thought and/or research or simply enough concern to give you the help you needed.
Since you have decided that it IS an intelligent answer then you already know what to do. So give them the credit for their assistance.

If it was a serious question, then reward the serious answer. People put time and effort into giving their best and that should be recognized. And since that is true, you can always compliment the witty person in the comment field or via email. Sometimes a simple note of appreication is all that is needed. But bottom line, serious questions deserve serious answers, and the best of them deserves reward. Give props where props are due.

Were you looking for a serious answer? Then award the intelligent answer. After all, you want people to take you serious next time you have a serious question. If you were just asking for fun, then its okay to award the witty answer.

If the answer serves you to the utmost, intelligent or witty, or both, and it gives you the most thought of answer, then that would be the one I would pick!!
It doesn't have to be a very long answer, just the one that you have enjoyed the most, and has the most potential!!

It depends on which one helped me the most.
If I was looking for knowledge, give credit to the smartie pants
If I was looking for a smile....book the witty one.

Well I would go for the answer because that is the point of Yahoo! Answers. And if it helped you, then they should be awarded for an answer, not a compliment.
