WHATEVER YOU DO, NEVER OPEN OR, ABOVE ALL, REPLY OR RESPOND IN ANY WAY TO SPAM!!!!!!!!!

That is because spammers try random address, most of which don't exist. Whenver someone opens the e-mail or replies some way, they know that is a valid address and they add it to their mailing lists.

I'm amazed that you went two years without receiving spam. I created an e-mail address about one month ago and I have already been receiving a little spam for two weeks!

Well, I fight spam with the Thunderbird e-mail client. It is free (open source) and works extremely well.

It uses a statistical spam filter. At first, it catches a lot of spam, but lets a lot through. Whenever you find spam in your inbox, you click to tell Tbird that it's spam. Tbird analyses the message and modifies its filter to better stop that kind of spam.

After using it for a couple weeks with an account that receives 50-100 spam messages per day, it was only letting about 3 to 5 spams into my inbox daily.

I have never had a valid e-mail accidentally classified as spam.

Sorry, you just joined the rest of us! Once your email address gets spreads around it is very difficult to stop the spam.

Quickest and least convenient solution: Change your email address and be very careful who you give the new one to.

Alternatives:

. Get spam blocking software.
. Set up your address on Yahoo Mail where they have a good filter system
. Keep a separate email address for giving out to people and businesses you don't know personally.
. DO NOT respond (or even open) junk mail. DO NOT Unsubscribe (it just confirms you are there).

There are no great solutions...
