Why not just accept that after you're dead nothing happens? Think back to what your life was like 10 years before you were born. That's how your life will be 10 minutes after you are dead. Why all this denial?

because it's a big unknown.
Plus not everyone shares your "nothing happens" belief.

Well, why not be concerned about it? Your life is only a tiny little slice of eternity. What happens after you die is the rest of eternity. There is an infinite number of possibilities for what could happen.

Also, it just so happens that this may be the only opportunity you get to be here on Earth in this form. It also may be that what you do now will have tremendous consequences after you die. I'm not just referring to the traditional religious afterlife notions, but what if, for example, you are actually a god, in the process of creating a new universe that you will then have to live in when you are done living in this one? Think about it.

Then again, maybe not. Getting concerned isn't the point; it's what you're going to do about your concerns.

Well, the point is that there is life after death. Even people who are not Christians will agree with that. You have an eternal soul and I promise that I would want to be sure that I was going to Heaven and not Hell. Eternity is forever. Not a day, not a week, not even a year, but foreverrrrrrrr. Now, if something is forever, I would be sure to want to know where I was destined to be. Research the Bible and find out for yourself what all the concern is about. It will give you all the answers you could ever need.

You are absolutely right. Far too many people are living their lives in fear of death, because they believe in an eternal punishment for behavior in this life. Do I agree with your assessment of nothing happens? No, have to disagree with you there.
There have been far too many living examples of what the human mind and soul are capable of, Christ among them.
Think about energy. We know as a fundamental truth that energy is neither created nor destroyed, only displaced. Now, put two bodies beside each other, one alive and the other dead. What is missing? Energy. We call this energy our soul, but it really isn't ours. It belongs to GOD. In this way, we are all one, with all things. It is our EGO self that chooses not to see this, therefore we deny GOD. When we deny Him, we begin to create all kinds of theories and religions to explain what we are lacking. The idea of lack having entered the mind produces fear of not having.
So we now believe that we are separated from our Creator. But this is as impossible as death for your soul, energy.
As for your statement, think about your LIFE ten years before you were BORN. How is that possible?
That could only be possible if you were in direct union with the eternal energy, creative principle of GOD. Sounds to me like you might be one of those people concerned about his own mortality.
My advice, Love life, Live to love, and don't worry about those so called sins. GOD can no more separate from you than you can from Him, although you can forget your source.
Peace be upon you brother

You are right. As a new born child grows to be a boy/girl and then a teen and then a young gent/lady and then become father/mother and then grandpa/grandma it is evolution change from one stage to another and finally comes to the e4nd of journey. Right from a plant this is true of all lives in Nature.
Still the curiosity remains .May be all the riligions have a role to play.

I think ther primary reason for this is that people are incapable of viewing the world and existance except as it pertains to them. They cannot see things except through their own eyes. They know the world will go on without them and the only way they can make sense of this is to believe that they will continue to exsist in one form or another even when their body is dead.

We all have souls. How do I know? I saw my stepfather's soul leave his body, hover briefly and then it was gone. I was sober and drug free. If you read a Bible, you will know that God created all souls, and when we die, we go back to our Heavenly Father. Other people have mentioned the silver chord which connects the spiritual body (soul) to our physical body. I know we do have souls. When someone dies, there is no more light of the soul shining from the eyes. Why all of your denial?!!!

It is all because no one knows if there really is Heaven and Hell or if religion is just an old wives tale. People can think that they will go to a fire hell or a fantastic fantasy called heaven, or people like you can critize everyone's beliefs and think that you will just rot in a box after you die, but no one even knows if your soul dies when your body dies.

excellent question!
some people should be more concerned about what is going on around them now, rather than worring about what might happen.

for a lot of people, it is really hard to come to terms with the fact that this is it. so they ignore it.

plus, when you are brought up your whole life being told that something is the way it is(religious beliefs), it is very hard to question it unless you have a good reason too.

That's because a lot of people have a hard time believing that ceasing to exist can be a good thing.

I am concerned for the ones I love. I want to make sure my wife is taken care of, has enough money to survive and is able to keep our home as long as she needs it.
