A doctor can check for specific problems that can cause infertility. But they cannot tell you absolutely that you can or cannot have children (unless you have had a hysterectomy). And most fertility doctors will only accept patients who have already been trying to get pregnant with no luck.
If you want to increase your likelihood of getting pregnant, please read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler. However, you should know that some women are infertile for up to a full year after taking birth control pills (or other hormonal birth control).

The first test for female infertility is to try to conceive for a year without having a pregnancy result.
After that, they test the male of the couple first because it is so much easier to test men than women for infertility.
After that, you will have your hormone levels tests and a vaginal ultrasound to see if the shape of your uterus is normal, if there are any fibroids, tumours, etc. But, even if you have a weirdly shaped uterus or fibroids or tumours does not mean you are infertile. The tests after that are a little more invasive involving tissue samples and other methods to treat infertility.
It sounds like you have endometriosis and, as you know, the best treatment for endo is pregnancy. So, you have to just keep trying to get pregnant for a year.
To deal with the pain, you might try taking a baby aspirin every day to help thin your blood. Then, when your period comes, there is less build up to stop you in your tracks. You can also try taking Monk's Pepper supplements and evening primrose oil. Both help women get their cycles on track.
I am sorry to hear you are in pain and I do hope they find some relief for you.

Your doctor can run a series of test to see if you are infertile. However, most doctors won't even talk about it unless it has been a year.
From what you are describing, I think you may have endometriosis (again, see a doctor- which I am not). You may be able to get some help before the 1 year mark if you suspect endometriosis. You can go in with your suspicions of endometriosis, get treatment, and hopefully, at the same time, treat any coinciding infertility.
Endometriosis is a common and often painful disorder of the female reproductive system. In this condition, a specialized type of tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus (the endometrium) becomes implanted outside your uterus, most commonly on your fallopian tubes, ovaries or the tissue lining your pelvis.
Endometriosis can be mild, moderate or severe, and it tends to get worse over time without treatment. Some women with endometriosis have no signs and symptoms at all, and the disease is discovered only during an unrelated operation, such as a tubal ligation. Others may experience one or more of the following signs and symptoms:
Painful periods (dysmenorrhea). Pelvic pain and cramping may begin before and extend several days into your period and may include lower back and abdominal pain.
Pain at other times. You may experience pelvic pain during ovulation, a sharp pain deep in the pelvis during intercourse, or pain during bowel movements or urination.
Excessive bleeding. You may experience occasional heavy periods (menorrhagia) or bleeding between periods (menometrorrhagia).
Infertility. Endometriosis is first diagnosed in some women who are seeking treatment for infertility.
Some cramping during your period isn't abnormal. But women with endometriosis typically describe menstrual pain that's far worse than normal. They also tend to report that the pain has increased over time.
If you do have infertility, prepare for an emotional roller coaster. You will hear hurtful statements from people who have never experienced it and don't understand (i.e. "greedy"). People will always tell you what you should be doing and telling you an adopted kid is just as good. (If this happens and you haven't decided to adopt yet, ask them if you could exchange their kid for a kid 2000 miles away- its just as good) You and your significant other ultimately will make this decision and it takes a long time to choose between infertility treatment, adoption, and childlessness. Its not a decision that can be made for you or forced upon you. This is a rite of passage- a dream- something you have imagined your entire life. It is difficult to shrug your shoulders, say "Oh well", and move on. I am doing my dissertation on the emotional effects of infertility. Its grief. The grief is the same, if not worse, as losing a loved one. You never tell widows to run out and find a new husband days after he dies.
In a nutshell, people will be insensitive and won't understand what you are experiencing.
Find a good support network or a support group for people with infertility.

yes a dr can test to see if you may infertile, he can also test your husband to see if he is sterle! I had alot of problems with my menstral period, when i first started it, I remember haveing to go home early from school, because my cramps got so bad, i would almost pass out from the pain, i couldn't eat or drink anything without getting sick, all i could do was find a comfortable position to sleep in and sleep the cramps away, plus my menstral cycle was irregular, i would get it every other month, sometimes skipped 2 months then got it! so i had to start takeing birth control, and it helped alot!, i was on it for 9 months, but then i moved and didnt have medicaid or any insurance to get anymore, so i stopped taking the birth control and 10 months later i became pregnant! we weren't even trying for a baby til a month b4 i became pregnant! my daughter is now 2 and a half yrs old!, when did you stop taking your birth control? the BC pill can live in your system for up to 90 days, so if you have just rescently stop taking your BC, then just give your body time to adjust and don't try so hard to have a baby, the more to try the harder it can be to get pregnant, stop thinking about it and i bet you wont have problems getting pregnant, but if you are really consider then ask her dr for advice

yes, your ob/gyn can do some blood work, ultrasounds etc. to see if you are ovulating.
If you have problems conceiving, there are a lot of natural things you can do to try to get pregnant. If your periods are regular, you can take your temperature every morning as soon as you wake up, and chart it on a graph, then when you notice a slight 'dip' in your temperature, followed by a rapid increase by roughly one degree, that is when you ovulated. It takes semen about 24 hours to reach the egg, and the egg is viable for roughly 36-48 hours, so knowing when you are ovulating is helpful to plan intercourse. Plus you can purchase over the counter ovulation monitors, however, that can get costly, so I would recommend that you have at least an idea when you are ovulating, so that when you use the ovulation test, you are at least close to the day.
Hope that all works out for you, and good luck.

Hi
Yes certainly a doctor can tell you whether this is possible or not. Only thing to keep in mind is that, if you are having so much of trouble during your periods, then you also need to check with doctor is pregnancy going to be smooth. Anyways best of luck.
