Use Goo Gone. It works great. It even took melted crayon out of a drape with no damage or stains left on the drape. It doesn't take much. I'm still using the same bottle of Goo Gone that I bought about 15 years ago.

Go to an automotive sales department in Wal-Mart or Napa, They sell an adhesive remover from "3mm" soak it on a cloth and wipe it onto the adhesive, soak it well and it should come off easily enough, however, if there is still some spots or even a strip of it left, soak it well, dripping down off, even...and take a straight edge razor and carefully scrape it off.

Try vegetable oil (cooking oil) first. It won't hurt the paint, and it removes many adhesives effectively. Apply the oil with a soft cotton cloth, and rub to remove the adhesive.

I would agree with the WD40. Also you could try some vegetable oil and a paper towel. The slippery-ness is what will take it off without damaging the paint.

Don't laugh WD40, it takes the adhesive off from duct tape on surfaces. It shouldn't affect the paint. Good luck.
