NO. I knew a guy who was white, and married to a white woman (both had white parents). When their second child was black, he suspected that she had had an affair. Still the judge in Illinois would not grant him a divorce until he came into his court room. He was in the military service and stationed in Europe at the time. He couldn't afford to go home, because his wife had cleaned out all his accounts.
Illinois recognizes "common law marriages," (a marriage without the involvement of anyone except the couple), but no state recognizes common law divorce. The couple must appear in a court and file for divorce. You could try and defend yourself, but you are much more likely to lose. YOU NEED A LAWYER.
If it is a divorce on good terms then you could have it settled by arbitration, but that would mean a lawyer or judge would decide the case, and if you didn't agree to the terms then you couldn't fight it.

Yes, you can. I did it with 3 children. I didn't have the money, so I called legal aid. They let me pick my atty. and they paid for it. But to answer your question, yes, divorces on line. You fill out the paper work, who gets what, turn it in to the county clerk. She will file it, you will be called into court to answer a couple of easy questions, and the judge signs the papers. Will have to file for a legal separation for at least 30 days prior.
