If you were the mayor of the town you lived in, what would you change about the city you live in?

As mayor I would create and install a program to help the homeless to shift into a domicile state, offer counseling funded by local initiatives and provide career counseling to help ease these individuals back into society and productive citizen life. The homeless problem here is virtually ignored, save for the mayors installation of no panhandling signs.

I would first put a no 'jake breaking' sign (downshifting by trucks) on our exit ramp as we are a major interchange for US 131 and I-94. I would then seek to grow the community by offering to by land that people own, but are not using for farming, get it re-zoned and have more houses built to get more gov't dollars to apply to the school, perhaps even build a separate highschool. Also expand the sciences in the school as that was a major budget cut this year in all Michigan schools. I would seek to replenish this parched little town.

Less property tax, better pay for teachers, more funding for emergency services, a complete rework of the governing infrastructure to get rid of redundant job positions( we don't need 3 treasurers etc) More attention to the wants and needs of the common taxpaying citizen, less interest on the demands of business.Also I'd try to initiate a flat tax program, so regardless of your income, everyone pays the exact same rate, say 5% of every doller earned is taxed, that's it, ever.
