YAY! I also fell in love with Daggers. You should watch 2046, In the Mood for Love, The Road Home, Hero, and Purple Butterfly! You'll love them all.

Hero and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Those are probably to your tastes, especially Hero (very nice colors, like House of Flying Daggers). The two also feature Zhang Ziyi, the heroine in House of Flying Daggers.

I am a big fan of Au Revoirs Les Enfants and Like Water For Chocolate. The first is set during WWII in a French boarding school, and the second is based on a book by Laura Esquivel. Enjoy!

I'm not american, so i could say that my foreign film lifetime is Pulp Fiction and my not american film, this what you refer I think, is The Life is Beautiful, though I'm not a jew, I'm a human being, It's amazing how a father in times of war makes believe to his son that they're playing a game.
