I would have to say Josh Gibson with his 986 Home Runs hitting a whooping 0 in the major leagues and 986 in the ***** leagues.

your question is very open. do you want to know all around player or specific area of play? if you want all around player you could make a strong case for willie mayes he was a career 300 hitter with 660 home runs over 3000 hits an excellent fielder with golds gloves every year. he also was an all-star every year he play almost. he stole over 300 bases he drove in over 2000 runs and only struck out about 1500 times in over 10,000 plate appearances.in my oppinion he is among the greatest players to ever walk onto the diamond.

This question gets asked every day, and I answer it the same every day...Babe Ruth. Mays, Williams, Bonds, Aaron, Musial etc were/are all legendary, but when any of them gets on the mound and wins nearly 100 games,( including holding the World Series record for consecutive shutout innings pitched), like Ruth did, then I will change my mind.
