I'm just wondering if anyone feels as helpless as me sometimes... I mean I know I am a very intellectual and sensitive person, but some days I just feel like crying, and I feel like nothing I can do will change this. Has anyone else ever experienced these feelings and if so, how did you cope?

When I feel like that I look for the little things around me like a gentle breeze or a smile on a friends face. There are little things that make life unbearable and little things that make life precious. Find the beauty of the world around you, it has a rythm and flow if you take the time to appreciate it. It can be as simple as noticing a bright red cardinal singing and thinking about how you haven't payed any attention to something as basic and wonderful as that for some time now. I suggest just taking a slow walk and looking all around you. There's nothing wrong with marvelling at the world around us.

We all feel like that sometimes. It becomes a problem when it is affecting your life in a significant way (i.e. you stop going to work/school, stop eating - eat way too much, or stop getting joy out of the things that make you happy) my best advice would be to keep a journal of the things going through you head and see if there are certain things that are making you feel helpless. Exercise is also usually a big help and can make you feel great. DO NOT go on antidepressants unless these feelings affect your life in a serious way and even then only after trying other things.

It's an uphill battle. But winning one isn't unheard of. You just gotta pick yourself up. Try going for a walk, getting some exercise. Atleast a little everyday. Since I've started, I've felt much better. Speaking of, it's about that time. . .
;) You'll be alright. Seriously, I know that you don't FEEL like it. But it will help once you finally drag yourself into it. Hell, I just spend like 10 or 15 minutes a day getting my heartrate up and the results are almost amazing. Try it. Blessings!

At age 53, I had a heart attack and quadruple bypass ! My colesterol was 153 ! I was, at the most, 5 lbs. over weight. I was very active. I had no family history of weak hearts.

Two months later, I had my first aniexty attack !!! It scared the heck out of me. Before that moment, I didn't much believe in "mental issues" like this.

I was in bed, lying on my back, and started thinking of some of the negative things in my life, ie., a 2nd divorce, financial issues, a daily commute of 120 miles and being lonely. It was like some super-natural force began slowly pushing me down into the mattress. My body felt "heavy". My breathing became difficult. I really started worrying. I thought about my daughter. I jumped up out of bed and started re-writing my will on my computer. I left notes for 'whoever' found my body. I made a list of people to call and their phone numbers. After about 90 minutes of "hurried organization", I felt fine !!!!! and a little tired,,,,,went to bed and fell asleep quickly....I have had 3 more "beginnings", but quickly recognized the 'feeling', and stoped it (mentally) !!!! "Mind Over Matter" !!!

Be who you want to be. You control your life. Find happiness within yourself first, then look for others.

I think everyone gets moments like this...I have, not very often, but when it happens I try to see what I am crying about or look at my life and see all the things that I love about life, that usually works for me.. pros and cons lists are good too, as it takes your mind off the problem a little and gives you something to focus on while you are in that "mood" Good to read through after....not so bad after all huh?? Yahoo me if ya wanna chat! ;-)

I feel like that sometimes. I tried anti-depressants but after all I learned that no matter what I do or what happens the world and everything in it will go on whether I'm happy or sad, so why not do your best to be happy. Remember.. nothing happens to you that you didnt let happen.

Your thoughts control your feelings and you control your thoughts. Whenever you feel bad, identify what you were thinking at the time and then chose to think about something that makes you feel better. Of course, there are times when you will decide to continue thinking about what makes you feel bad. Then, recognize that you made that choice. Take responsibility for it. Own it. You'll feel empowered and have more control almost immediately.

sure, I have experienced those feelings, and I still do sometimes. I have to fight them, keep busy, take time for myself, change things up a bit, find a new interest or an old interest, talk to my sister or friend, and tell myself I have a blessed life.

Yes, I've felt like that before. Maybe you will grow out of it. I think I did, pretty much. Although I still started taking meds to deal with anxiety and depression.
