Go to your local county clerk's office (county courthouse) and ask for an Assumed Name Certificate. You can then set up a business (checking accounts and so on) under that assumed name. You may see the letters "dba" on some legal and financial papers which means "doing business as." I had a sole-proprietorship business that went by an assumed name. I set up the checking account so that I could deposit checks made out to me or to the business name.

I believe that you can legally use your stage name if it is registered. Talk to your bank about opening an account in the name you want to use.
