ANY car can be push started, but only if it is a manual transmission. When they went to only using a front pump on automatic transmissions, they also lost the ability to push start cars with auto transmissions. Diesel engines are much higher compression than gasoline engines, so it will be harder to push start, and you'd still have to turn on the "glow plug" so that the fuel will fire.

Of course it can. As long as it has a manual transmission.
*** For those of you who CLAIM to be mechanically inclined, "glow plugs" only assist combustion in a COLD engine but have nothing to do with the combustion itself. Diesel engines are COMPRESSION combustion engines ( and if you don't know what that means, the "combustion" mof fuel in the cylinder takes place due to compression force only, no "spark" is required. )unlike gasoline engines which require a spark ( although a gas engine with a manual transmission can also be push started as long as there is sufficient voltage to create a spark ) ALSO, IF YOU WANT A GOOD LAUGH, WATCH WHAT HAPPENS WHEN "JEFF" OR ANYONE ELSE SPRAYS STARTING FLUID IN AN ENGINE WITH HOT GLOW PLUGS ! ( What do you think would happen when you spray a HIGHLY flammable gas into an enclosed area with an ignition source ? )

Just had to laugh at this Joe character. Glow plugs, yes, they need electricity...but you don't always need them to start. If it refuses to start without glow plugs hot....spray some starting fluid in it and it will get going. Automatic transmissions that have the pump in the tailshaft can be pushstarted, but very few are made that way these days.

I suggest you buy a new battery. You cannot push start the car every time.

no,,,it wont start,,it has been proven time and time again,,the glow plugs must have voltage to heat up,and even then sometimes when it is cold you need to use starting fluid,,the compression is so high on a diesel,,it has to have voltage, otherwise your gonna get really aggravated at your self.
