I have been married to a wonderful man for 5 years now, and have a 14 year who becomes disrespectful towards him on ocassions, he's raised her since she was 7, but will not tolerate the disrespect, its more of talking back to him, or her telling him what she's not gonna do, and thats not happening, I'm in the middle of all this, they will go so far as not even saying a thing to one another and we live in the same house. He loves her and will do anything for her, but until she shows some more respect he's gonna keep him distance from her.

You are not in the middle. If your husband is being disrespected by your daughter and she is in the wrong, you should show your support for him in front of your daughter. By not taking his side she thinks you are on her side. Show her that you are on the right side. Also remember that when you married him you became one person with one soul. She is also dissing you!

Lady, if he were her "real" Dad she would do the same thing. It's called hormones. Keeping his distance doesn't do a thing; she will find male companionship elsewhere, if you know what I mean. Now is the time for him to spend some quality time with her so she won't let her panties fly off with the first boy who pays some attention to her. I'm telling you, she loves him and needs him NOW.....she might fight it, but it will be worth the effort. Get some counseling on promiscuous girls and why they become that way. Do it now!!! You'll be saving her from alot of heartbreak...and yourself.

She needs good old discipline. And you need to stop saying your in the middle. You need to also take a pro-active role.
