They have already done well, and after not being part of the World Cup for 32 years, just to be here was a good performance.
I believe we favourites to get through to the 2nd round, due to the fact that we do not NEED to win. This tilts the chances slightly in our favour, but do not underestimate Croatia, who have a tough team and are proven at the World Cup (semi finalists in 1998 and have qualified every time they have attempted - 1998, 2002 and 2006)
Australia will likely face Italy, Ghana or Czech Republic in the 2nd round (assuming they finish 2nd in their group, USA cannot top their group).
If they play Czech Republic, they will almost definately lose (although Guus is a genius and a hate to write him off).
If they face Italy, they will be massive underdogs. While Italy don't look impressive, we know that they are famous for under performing.
If they face Ghana, I believe we are favourites. That is not to underestimate Ghana, who have a very good midfield and are extremely athletic. But we have some top defenders and are coached by the KING.

I do and so do many others (even if secretly). They have excelled themselves as we in Oz understand more so than others maybe. Guus has been such a positive impact on the boys and bought out the talents they had but perhaps needed more confidence in showing. I think they shocked a lot of people with their performance against Brazil, even though they lost the match. The Brazilian coach was impressed also. Many fans are saying they don't want to play Australia should they get through as they are now considered to be a team that can provide the upset.
I think although it won't be easy they will get the result they need against Croatia to progress through. After that anything is possible. The more opportunities they get to play the better they are going to perform also. Other results will have a bearing on any further progression, but if they keep cool heads and play to their ability, they have as good a chance as any other of getting to the next stage. I hope so, for them themselves. They have nothing to prove to Australia, they have done that already.

As per you eh? thankfully you're actually not in fee on the ICC....you will turn the sport right into a shaggy dog tale. Like I mentioned someplace else, if India had unquestionably gained, you 'tards does no longer be bleating like sheep over this non concern...I repeat, non concern. Has Dhoni himself come out and puzzled the approaches? No, he has mentioned India basically could no longer adapt to Australia' attitude. There are actually not any excuses from a meant no a million ranked united states who play on each and every variety of pitches and could discover ways to deal with them hence. Baaaaaaa baaaaaaaaa

I do.
I hope they make the round of 16 but I don't think they'll go much further than that.
I hope I'll be proven wrong, though.
