I used a cell phone to call someone, and it did that 3 times in a row, and I know that its supposed to ring 5 times.

They have flash or call waiting or whatever, so it isn't busy.

I think it is the cell phone.

A lot of machines are set to answer after two rings if there is already a message on it.

Every voice mail and answering machine allows the owner to set the number of rings before the machine picks it up. Also sometimes on when calling a cellphone the caller doesn't hear all the times it rings for the person being called. It also could be that they are in a place they can't pick up the phone so they just hit a button and the voice mail picks up so they won't have the phone ringing at an inoprotune time.

If you call someone on their cell phone and the ring cuts off in the middle, that means that they rejected or pressed "ignore" on their phone. Dude you're getting played!
