Drink a can of Ensure a day.
That should do the trick.

Yes there certainly are medical conditions which could be preventing you from gaining weight. Intestinal worms are one common reason. My husband had a bug called Ghiardia a few years back which also made him lose a lot of weight and he has been unable to regain it ever since.
However cross country running is a sport that burns a LOT of energy. My thought is that you are burning more energy than you are consuming. I think you should see a dietician and have them work out a diet plan for you that will help you gain weight. Being grossly underweight is as dangerous as being overweight. If it means you have to cut back on your training a little bit then do so because being healthy well into the future after you have stopped running is way more impoortant

If your doctor thinks that you need to gain weight too; can he recomment a nutritionist? I bet one could offer suggestions on how to help eat the right foods to help put on weight safely. To make sure you eat from all 5 food groups; and the right amount of meals and serving sizes. You said you eat everything in site; but is it always things that are no fat? Do you eat meats? Do you eat and then work it off right away or does any fat have time to deposit? Do you drink enough liquids during the day also? Do you lift weights as part of your training to gain muscle tissue? Is there a trainer there in the weight room that can offer you help as to what type of work out to do to help you acheive the goal of weight gain?
If you are looking for more immediate action as to what to eat/how to eat before seeking a professional; you can look at the usda website and they have an index as to what to eat.
Check out: http://www.mypyramid.gov
And remember eventhough you want or need to gain weight; enjoy the fact that everything doesnt go straight to your hips!
Good luck.

I would get into a doctor right away. There are a few things that could be the cause of your weight lose and inability to gain. Even though you are in good physical shape something could be very wrong. If your current doctor tells you to gain weight but won't help you to do so... then it is time to get a new doctor. A friend of mine had a similar problem and it turned out that her food was traveling through her digestive system too fast. Her body was not given the time to absorb the nutrients that she needed.
Better to check in to and find out it is nothing then to take a chance that it could be something more.

My first thought would be that you have a parasite of some kind. I would tell your parents and doctor to have you tested for that. If your eating everything you can get your hands on (besides sweets) then something isnt right. Yes, cross country IS a demanding sport but with all you are doing (weights, eating right, etc etc) there has to be a reason you cant put on a simple 5 pounds.

I would try Innova, Avoderm, Canidae, Solid Gold has special weight gain formula. All of these should be at your pet supply. Add shredded chicken to the food, and mix it in, or lean hamburger. Don't give extra fats, as this can be harmful...There is also a dried raw meat food for huskies and wolf mixes. She might find that irresistable.(at pet supplies) Most of these premium dog foods have sample packs to try on your dog..Just bring the samples home and let her choose...Give her a very calm eating time and space. Sit in the floor and feed by hand until she develops a taste for the new food. I would try feeding her after a good run in th e park..Many dogs won't eat well if they are inactive. My adult 70 pound dogs only eat 2 cups of quality food per day. My younger dogs, almost 2 years old, eat just 4 cups per day.

If your mom or dad will buy you this, it works.
Mix a black russian drink with out vodka, just use half & half cream with Kahlua 1 3/4 oz. Only drink one or two at nite. It will relax you and cause you stolic to slow down more. No you will not get drunk on these but you will in fact gain weight.

We're not doctors. If your doctor won't give you pills to gain weight (would any doctor?), she should at least give you the right advice on how to get up to a healthy weight.
