People think thin people are anorexic because most people are just so fat, thin isn't a reality for most folks. If you'e thin you must be sick-that's what fat people think,'cause they can't ever get there-unless they starve themselves.I'm thin, even thought I weight 124lbs.,which isn't actually starving esp.since I have a small height. But everyone thinks I work hard to keep my figure, but all I do is eat!

I read an article in a major medical journal a few months back which discussed the problem of obesity in America. Based on their study 73% of men over the age of 25 are over weight and 39% of all the men in the study were considered obese or morbidly obese. The same study determined that 49% of the women over 25 studied were over weight and about 28% of all the women in the study were obese or morbidly obese. The average American fat and when they simply decide that thin & trim Americans must be anorexic. It's my opinion that these fat/obese Americans who refuse to exercise or reduce their food intake to below 5000 calories per day REJECT the idea that people like you, me & others utilize self control to manage our weight and overall health.
Couple this information with all the high profile people and celebrities in the news "suffering" from anorexic and the average person assumes that you or I have the same weakness. Again, everything in my answer to your question is just my opinion and not zd nothing me.or

People are obsessed with stereotypes. If they see and Iranian or Muslim person they automatically think terrorist, if they see an African American male in all black standing close to their car they automatically think thug, and unfortunately if they see a thin girl or a model they assume she is anorexic or suffering from some sort of other eating disorder. The honest truth is that most people are not thin, so people see it as abnormal and tend to draw the wrong conclusions. We envy models in society along with famous people of any sort so we have to have some sort of explanation as to why they do not look like the rest of us. I know it is tough having such accusations but I promise you that as long as you know that there is nothing wrong with you and you know that you are eating healthy everything will be ok.

People tend to think that lots of models don't eat much, because anorexia is discussed in the media so often. We never see any news people talk about models who eat just right and are perfectly healthy, because that's not interesting news. Celebrity news and the media in general is biased.

The same thing goes with overweight people. People tend to think that all overweight people are overweight because they never exercise. However, I see some heavy-set people at the gym all the time. Again, it's a bias with the media.

This is known as the availability heuristic in psychology. The most vivid memories in our mind are most available (e.g. anorexics and overweight people). When we make a judgment about something, we are biased by what is most available in our minds.

coz of the media portrayin models that way, models are to too thin tho and not good role models for young girls reading magazines and think that that is the way they need to look to be excepted! the whole skinny models/celebs thing has contributed to a rise in eating disorders!

The fashion world set the standard and models need to be that way to sell the clothes, I used to work in Fashion and personally hated the falseness of the people I dealt with.

I know naturally slim girls tho that eat more than anyone and they just have a high metabolism.

I honestly don't know. I am the same way, but I don't work out, I just have a really high metabolism. Some people are just jealous I guess. They themselves have to work at being skinny, and don't like it, so if they see a skinny person, the like to automatically assume that they are anorexic or something.

People want what they cannot have or want what they have to work for handed to them.

well most people do consider thin people to be anorexic, im extremly thin but its just my motabalism and i too eat a lot, its just not normal for some people to see people extremly thin..actually the people who assume these things are usually kinda chubby, thats what my observation has been with me anyways, people just need to worry about there own problems, just because people are thin they just automatically assume they are anorexic or balimic

Whenever I see a skinny girl the appearance of the skeleton is the first clue she may be anorexic.

I have hereditary thinness, really, I used to be as thin as a wheat stock! And all my life I have been asked that by friends, acquaintances and strangers alike, so one day I got fed up explaining and just said, " Only fat people ask me that question." Rude yes. But to ask a person their question is ruder.

omg i feel for u soo much! i am the same exact way and it pisses me off! maybe people find it hard to believe that we can eat soo much and not get fat so to satisfy their thought, they say we're anorexic. but those people are also dumbasses cuz if ur anorexic that means u dont eat!
