You are correct in that, for the US to get into the 2nd round, USA have to win and Italy also has to win.
However, if France win by 2 goals or more, they will qualify no matter what. If Swiss & Korea draw and France beat Togo, the group will be decided on goal difference, with a 2 goal lead meaning France go through.

No. You are not quite right about both
USA can qualify even though Italy draws provided they score enough goals. The possible scenarios are below
1.USA has to beat Ghana and hope Italy beat the Czech
Republic.
2. USA has to beat Ghana by a 4 goal margin if Italy and Czech
Republic draw (1:1) in order to have a better goal count and
balance. For every other goal the Czechs score USA has to
add one eg, Italy 2:Czech 2 means USA 5:Ghana 0 to qualify
(or USA 6 Ghana 1) to maintain the 4 goal margin. (Italy does
not come into play here as they have a better goal difference
than the Czechs)

France has to win and they will qualify if Korea and Switzerland do not draw as you said. However should Korea and Switzerland draw, France can still get through if they win by at least a 2 goal margin

If USA wins and Italy wins Usa is in. If Italy ties then Usa has to win by 4 goals.
If France wins by 2 goals they are in no matter what. If he wins by one goal Switzerland and Korea cannot tie.
