I think he's a younger superman, at the beginning. As far as being thin, I always wondered why superman had to look muscular, since his powers don't come from regular muscles.

not exactly. The reason why they got Brandon Routh is because his face and height just looks exactly like a superman character and also like Christopher Reeve and the suit already looks muscular on him.

"boyish" wasnt the word i would choose, he looks abit, pretty... too feminine to be a guy of steel. And isnt he supposed to be abit older too? I kinda agree but then i havnt seen the movie yet so ill wait till then before i rule him out.
