in keeping with my own morals, values and definition of marriage(not the christian majorities) i think its OK. i believe that people can love more than one person at once. on the other hand i don't think i could ever marry a woman who had more than one husband and personally I'd limit my own number of wives to 3 or 4 because women can be a real pain sometimes.
i think the idea will seem terrible to most Americans who have such a narrow, religion dominated cultural view

yes it is morally wrong in so many ways...who cares what men and women do in other countries? Our belief system is far from anything like multiple wives being OK to have....it's completely uncivilized and goes against everything marriage stands for...like *love* and *faithfulness* It's hard enough trying to be married to one person, who has the time or patience for ten all at once? If your human and love your husband or wife, then you will feel jealousy when you think of other partners that may come into their life, no matter how big or small the feelings of jealousy may be. If you feel that having more than one wife is something you would like to do then go for it, but it is illegal to do that in some states....everyone is entitled to their own system of beliefs and desires and opinions.....but I'm sure most women would agree with me and probably a bunch of men if they are decent and not womanizers......

Jealousy, my foot!

Unless a man is extremely wealthy, I don't see how he can support more than 1 family. Why do women outnumber men by so much? Where are all the men?!

I think that when one man fathers a whole lot of kids, that really messes up the gene pool because you have all these people with 1/2 of their genes in common. When his brother has 5 wives, and he has 35 or more children, you then have another whole set of people who share their genes with these other people. It's just not healthy for men to father all those children with different women. That's just way too many darn people!!!! Ever heard of overpopulation?

I think that monogamy is healthier for society as a whole. It should be one man and one woman having kids and marrying, not several women and 1 man.

Now, as for several men and 1 woman, that could make sense because the gene pool would then become much more varied and the guys could all go out and work and make a lot more money for the woman. I could just imagine having 2 husbands to work! I wouldn't have to work like I do now! ~:-D I could actually have children instead of wait until I'm in my 30's when I'll finally be able to afford to not work for a couple of years. :-D No... my husband wouldn't share me.

Dude, why would you WANT 5 wives always nagging you, 5 toilets to unclog, drains to clean, trashcans to take out, backs and feet to rub, etc.? 5 PMS women a month moody and then bleeding. 5 women to reassure about how they still look pretty and you still love them, blah blah blah! You're crazy if you want to deal with that. I'm a woman and I can barely stand living with me.

no but only if you allow a women to marry more than one man. In Alaska there are so many more men than women. But it could get complicated in a generation or two and making sure you are not hooking up with your 1/2 sibling in smaller communities.

I believe that it is wrong to have more than one spouse because the bible specifies under the new testament that one should only have one spouse. While this was different in times ago, it had a piurpose, "to fill the earth." The earth is full however, and having more than one wife defiles and trespasses God's marital arrangement.

It depends if you mean marrying at the same time then I'm totally against it because I believe that you get married because you are madly in love with the other person and if you feel that you "love" more than one than it is not love and all you are interested is sex. If you mean at different times than I feel that it is necessary because only because one marriage failed doesn't mean that you need to stay by yourself for the rest of your lives, we need somebody to be involved in our life to be fully happy!

You live in the country that considers bigamy a crime. So, forget about the idea of getting married twice. You will be in deep legal trouble and could spend years in prison. You do not want that to happen to you..

I am a Cristian and in our religon it is wrong. I would refuse not just because of religious beliefs ( that a true marriage consists of 3 parts; God, man & woman) and because of jealousy factors. I want a man to myself and to only me.

it's wrong and crazy. why the hell would any man want more than 1 wife? One of them wants to talk, the other wants to be cuddled, the other is complaining that he spends more time with the other wives, and so on. 1 woman is more than enough!
