The minimum "salary" for an NBA player changes every year, for 05 ~ 06, it was $398,762. It increases by 3.5% per season, so next season it will be $412,718. The scale also changes based upon a player's years of service.

So let's say a player is an unrestricted free agent, a rookie and has never played in the NBA. His first season, he'd be paid $412,718 if he's with the team all year. The following season, his pay would increase to $687,456, because of how the increases are set up by the union's collective bargaining agreement, plus his year of experience.

TOO MUCH. LoL. Use the money and give it to charities instead of over-paying new players--make them earn their money! They will play better knowing that! Just an idea. =)
