Congratulations!!! As my grandmother said "you are now a lady". Make sure you talk with your mom or someone who you feel comfortable talking with. Let her know your concerns if you have any. Your stomach is probably cramping so try taking a few pain killers such as midol or Tylenol or try a nice hot cup of tea. This should help with the cramps. If you have not purchased supplies, go to the store and buy enough to last the next few days. I like Always brand. There sanitary napkins but they are really thin and absorb a lot. Make sure you keep yourself clean...you can do this by ensuring you change every few hours or at least when you go to the bathroom. Here's the big one if you share a bathroom!!! Make sure you wrap your materials after use with toilet paper and dispose of properly. It's embarrassing for dad or little brothers to find (smile). Also if you place them in the trash you want stop up the plumbing. Last but not least PLEASE understand that since you have a period that if you have unprotected sex there is a strong chance that you can become pregnant. So if you are having sex ALWAYS use a condom and if not JUST WAIT (Smile). I hope this helps and once again congratulations and welcome to the YA YA Womanhood.

buy some pads ALOT of pads cuz trust me ur gonna have a heavy flow. carry pads in ur purse so that the blood dont bleed through ur pants. and change it maybe twice a day to prevent that. and then there is something called PMS where u get real moody b4 ur period. you probably have experienced this but you didnt notice it because you didnt know you were gonna get your period. there isnt really anything you can do about PMS that i know of.

Use a pad or tampon for starters.
Added:
For the person that mentioned TSS.
The longer you leave in a tampon (And the bigger the absorbancy) the higher the chance to get it, yes. As long as you aren't wearing your tampon for 8 hours straight and not bothering to change it, you should be fine.
