Is A the first letter in the English alphabet? The answer is yes and no amount of arguing or fighting or disagreeing will change that because it is a fact.
Can human beings live without water? No they can't. That is a fact.
Facts cannot be disputed, if a fact is disputed they are disputed out of ignorance.

For the same reason that if 50 people sitting in a circle whisper a certain phrase to the one next to them, by the time it goes through to all 50 that phrase is different than when it started!
Interpretation!
How many people believe in "god" on this planet??? A basic "truth" so to speak, yet how many people over the centuries have been killed because what they perceive is slightly different than what others do?
Also: In what you wrote after your question, the truly insane should also take part as well in complete agreement. Otherwise its not "complete" is it? They, simply not understanding would not warrant their imput being abscent from the whole.

Gee, that was wordy... the answer is because everyone puts their own interpretation on the "truth", no matter what the "facts" are, everyone has their own spin on things. Everyone's opinion is different. What is dark pink or magenta to you may be red to the person next to you, regardless of what the name on the label says. It's all about your state of mind..(actually, it may be more about how, where and when you were raised, taught, etc..)

Egos can't agree on something. Egos are own thoughts, fake selves which we make up as defenses adverse to emotional traumas. a narrative that tries to describe and justify why we did not do what lets have done if we hadn't been so scared. The change from chance free being as toddler to “starting to be up” and being how we must be as a rationalized personality.

because everyone has different opinions on what is true. you can state an obvious truth like the sky is blue, and you will undoubtedly have someone tell you that it is not and give you some longwinded reason why. the answer to your question is simple. because human beings were born to think for themselves.

Because if there exists a question that everyone could agree on, it is in fact, such a milquetoast, insipid question that it is not worth asking.

Truth isn't about everyone agreeing but coming together to achieve the same one goal. Yes, there will be different ways, different means but when everyone pushes their ego aside, and think of the benefit to society, the benefit to their organisations, the benefit to the business organisations, then they will agree that the must move forward.
The second they will listen to each other ideas, and leadership is about understanding everyones points but also influencing them to agree to now implement a concept and action and go for it.
For example; Dale Carnegi, Henry Ford, and someone else, who were uneducated men, would come together and share ideas. They would then agree on the best idea. The did so, and achieved this because their minds didn't not come together for egoistic reasons, for credit, for status, but for the common goal that they all three benefitted.
This unified, minds, that harmonised with each other created what we call the Master Mind. The Master Mind is a creation of two or three minds coming together with harmony, which is positive, not negativity but positive thoughs wanting to achieve one goal. It can be the amount of money. It can be creating a firm. It can be creation of an organisation or power. When these three minds come together something powerful is created called the Master Mind, which is made of energy. There minds are so together that this energy brings ideas because each person is digging into each others mind. They are working together as proper team with one goal.
Now, we can see, how that was broken up when Henry ford, and another company who use to sit with together didn't work because one thought he knew better. This argument dragged on. The minds now, were not in harmony because the goal was not pure, it was much to do with egos now, and status, and fear of losing out.
In the end, all lost out, companies went down. And Henry Ford, because he also wasn't open to new ideas lost to a company which took over called GM - General Motors. No doubt, Henery Ford was one of the great entrepreneurs in those times but so was Dale Carnegi.
Dale Carnegi didn't know anything about Steel. But he knew how to bring all great, skillful minds together, harmonise them, build relationship with them and hence, he became a very powerful man. He was seen if he was alive now, as the Bill Gates, in his own time.
People can agree together and my business is of proof of this. I have 50 business partners and its growing fast and we agree together, work together on goal. Yes, we may have differences but all of us focus on that higher goal, that we all want success, we all want to build so our communities benefit, so the world benefits and when we see it this way, we don't argue. We don't dwindle in resentment but we walk together, as brotherhood, making the goals become real which then enforces ALL our dreams to come true.
So the truth is - yes, everyone whose thoughts mattered, and agreed and they knew the same, universally correct truth about the same thing, they WILL agree. Why? Because the universe itself runs in a same law, understanding the same thing, and all are agreeing to submit to that law. Now, people will say, "but universe has no desire and it is ruled by force." Yes we have desire but then, isn't our desire to have success or poverty? Is our desire to grow and move on and benefit each other or not ours and no one else?
So the answer is simple; when people who are thinking with psoitive minds, when they push aside their ego, when they think about others and not themselves, when they have come together not to answer questions and be right, but they have come to help each other and grow, and succeed. Yes! They CAN AGREE on the SAME thing.
It is then for the leaders within this enviroment to understand how to deal with people, how to help and communicate the seriousness and emphasise:
"We have one goal, the success for us all. Let us then agree on this." And they will agree.
"We have heard many a ideas, we feel we choose this one which has come from all your ideas. Can we SUGGEST to agree on this idea and begin the process of planning and goal setting, and become pionners and work together as one?"
And they will say yes.
By showing the truth has come from all of them, will make them all agree. It's how I make everyone agree on my ideas. It works.

Its all because of cognitive conditioning. In general people think act according to their conditioning environment with few exceptional cases that we cannot explain.
