Please don't take those responses of "sex before marriage" and illicit love as the breach of innocence in R & J. The love of Romeo and Juliet is in itself representative of innocence. The breach comes with the societal folly surrounding them. It is through that imposition that they seek to consummate their love in a clandestine way, and that may indicate a breach of innocence, but the essence of their romance keeps its integrity. The death of the two lovers is evidence that the innocnce is not broken; for both Romeo and Juliet would rather take on death than destroy what they have together.
