Why is it that according to liberals you're argument is automatically wrong if you're a religious person and invoke teachings from Scripture in your argument, but it's perfectly fine when they quote from their gods ... Al Franken, the Dixie Chicks, Nancy Pelosi, and Ted Kennedy?
Also, isn't it just a smidge hypocritical when liberals themselves invoke the name of Jesus when they say "Jesus F-ing Christ" all the time or when they pull out a Bible to urinate on it?

"william j" ... I make blanket generalizations about liberals because ... it's easy to do. Liberal Democrats sort of set themselves up for stuff like that.

Good, deep, question, my friend.
Liberals (not as individuals, but overall as a group) hate Jesus and Christianity for two reasons. One, they worship Bill Clinton, so there is no room for another diety in their world. Two, the word of Jesus teaches morality, responsibility, honesty, and self-determination. That all runs completely counter to everything liberals believe in.
Sorry liberals. I hate to call you out like that, but look at your heroes and tell me they aren't a bit challenged in these areas (the Clintons, the Kennedys, Michael Moore...).

Okay, this is as much a generalization as your question, but I have to ask...Why do so many Republicans seemingly believe that saying "God Bless America" makes you a better politician?
Many people are Democrats who believe in God...They're just smart enough to remember the U.S. Constitution, which clarifies that the government isn't supposed to apply any particular religion to our citizens. Maybe Dubya should start signing off his speeches with "Allah Bless America", just to be sure he has covered all his bases.
FYI, I am fully capable of separating my religion from my politics. Can you?

Wow, the more I read thru these answers, the more offended I am. Not because I'm Liberal, but because these answers are so completely backward, that I'm afraid to let this group of people vote!
For one, Liberals don't worship Bill Clinton, Al Franken or any other living human. Liberals worship the same God(s) that Conservatives worship. Also, most of the Liberals I know are highly moral Christians. In fact, the Liberals and Conservatives are probably sitting next to each other at church on Sunday.
Mystique may have been the only person to provide a reasonable answer to this question.

I'm a conservative Christian (can you hear the stereotypes start pouring down?) and I know that I could never be made to separate my religion from my politics. Since Jesus is my everything (and I mean that sincerely, even though I'm always messing up) I can't exclude him from anything. There are bad Democrats and bad Republicans, but I have to say, there's a big difference. Liberal theology is more based on trying to get as much freedom as possible to allow for things that are wanted. Conservative theology is more about giving the most amount of freedom WITH DESCRESSION that allows for things that are wanted.
I believe America is a beautiful place and I love the ethnicity as I have lived outside of the country for several years. However, the amount of discontent people and vile envy is astounding. No one is perfect, but I think that many liberals just want to be free to do what they want and get away with it.
One of the previous answers was about Christians keeping quiet so the man could have his quiet. Well, it seems that's a common thread of fear in most people's minds. "If the Christians who we mock and demain daily take over, we'll all become mindless, freedomless drones."
To anyone who thinks like this, remember, God gave us complete freedom, so why do you think I'd try to take that away?

oh, Jesus. Here we go again!
look, most liberals get irritated when you base an argument on religion. the people you've chosen as your examples of "liberals" are not the most wonderful in the world. Yes, it irritates (at least me) when anybody, including their own, make an argument based on religion. It's subjective, and cannot be proven one way or the other. So if you're going to argue, argue with provable facts.
It is not the same thing at all, however, when someone uses the "lord's" name in vain. why? we're not proving a point. it's an expression, albeit one that many people take offense to, the way I take offense to being called b**ch or Whore.
Lastly, I don't know who you're hanging out with, but I no absolutely nobody who has ever taken any religious text, bible or otherwise, and urinated on it. These people who desicrate holy texts (for any religion) do not understand the basics of curtesy and being a human and therefore deserve to be treated like the animals they are.
I'm sorry you've had it rough with "us", but perhaps you should try meeting some real liberals, i.e. people with a functioning brain.

Jesus was a MOST peaceful man. He was a healer of the body, mind, and soul. That is why so many know of him still today. He spent his life preaching peace which is why churches today preach peace. Most liberals want peace as well instead of mindless rage and senseless arguing over political mumbo jumbo. Also---by a basic assimulation process you can see how Bush, Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Couture is not your God either....at least I hope not. And if you see someone urinating in public you have the right to call the cops and have that person arrested. You really shouldn't have to deal with that!

1) Why are you so angry?
2) Jesus was so liberal he was practically communist
3) If you are going to argue politics, keep it political... if your politics involve theology and mine do not, then when you bring up a theological justification for an arguement it is the same as saying "that is just what i believe" which, between two rational people would be the end of an arguement/ debate. So unless you are argueing with a liberal/athiest who is as close minded as you seem to be, invoking theological justification for your answer cuts them out of the arguement and they brush it off.
4) seriously reconsider your values, because your "religion" has been hijacked and exploited by the conservative party in power right now. unless the only reason you prescribe to your religion is because you hate gay people and abortion, in which case, you've missed the point entirely.
jesus loves smart people too

Why do you people always generalize about liberals? We don't all think alike and actually a lot of us admire the teachings of Jesus.
What does bother me is picking and choosing biblical quotes to back up arguements. You can find a verse in the bible to support almost anything.
Jesus said "turn the other cheek" and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" it seems like a lot of "you people" don't follow this -- that makes you hypocrites in my eyes.
Also that phoney Ann Coulter DOES NOT attend church -- the people at the church in New York that she claims to be a member of have never seen her there.

Ted Kennedy is a Catholic you morooooon! All the Kennedys are Catholic. Catholics put up crosses with Jesus nailed to them over the altars! PULL your head out of that hole its stuck in.
As a Catholic liberal I can tell you our mass includes the Apostle's Creed, which says I believe in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ...
When was the last time YOU went to Church and don't lie or God will catch you.

Did you ever observe how liberals whine like little children about conservatives permitting their Biblical impact to structure their public guidelines and critiques. They scream and whine about "separation of church and state." Then Hillary Clinton receives up and makes use of the Bible as an alibi to take more advantageous funds from human beings to redistribute it to the undesirable, "reason after all, that is the Christian element to do," and the liberals love that stuff - they devour it up! It purely is going to illustrate that liberals care no longer about ideas or guidelines. They care truly about personalities, and they are so numbed through gazing sitcoms and cleansing soap operas each and each and every of the time that they are uncomplicated pray for sly emotional ploy arguments adverse to which they're mentally defenseless. There are some those who fall for the spin device each and every time no remember how ridiculous that is, and no remember how self-contradictory that is. They couldn't discuss the definition of "idea" in a sport of Balderdash, a lot less even as disguised in a political spin maneuver. the rationalization they prefer it a lot even as Obama says that is because before liberals were thoroughly unprepared to face up adverse to the religious excellent on their "own words." that is, suited to sturdy previous American Christianity as a base for help. they're so keen for that, that they are thoroughly undiscerning about the content cloth, context, or consequences of this variety of actuality. they purely pick to be in capacity, no remember what it expenditures them.

First of all you are stereotyping. Not all liberals hate it when you invoke the name of Jesus. And I know very few people who actually use crude phrase you quoted in your question.
What "Liberals" (or anyone with common sense) hate is when someone avoids answering a legitimate question or addressing a legitimate issue and invokes the name of Jesus as a diversionary tactic.

Religion isn't based on logic.
Those people aren't their gods, more like role models.
And saying those things is what people grew up around. Kind of like I how we say "like" too much, or "wicked"(if you are from New England, you know what I'm talking about.)
It's not all liberals that act that way. You grouping them together like that is like saying all christains are the same despite the different sects.
Fighting discrimination with discrimination is an uphill battle that can't be won by either side.
To each person their own.
