When he looks at you. smile, letting him know that you want him to look at you. Do this repeatedly. Touch him on the arm or shoulder, which will indicate that there is no barrier between the two of you. Show an interest in his life. Show a willingness to keep the conversation going between you. If you show him you are interested, and he is free to pursue the interest, he should soon get the idea. Or you can be more direct to tell him that you are interested in him. But he may have reasons to avoid romantic interests at this time, and you need to respect that.

Why does he have to make the move? If he's older than you he may feel that you wouldn't really be interested in anything beyond flirtation. I certainly wouldn't put the moves on someone who was younger than me especially at work. The humiliation of rejection would be to much and the possibility of losing my job would even worse. Be direct with him. Let him know that not only are you interested but your mature enough to be involved in a relationship with someone who is older than you. It would probably be a good idea to have this conversation somewhere outside of work. Try to get a group of co-workers together for an after work drink or dinner.
The bottom line is that it's up to you to make him feel comfortable on unfamiliar soil.
Good Luck

I wouldn't recommend getting involved with a coworker. If you break up, it will make it difficult to avoid each other and it will make things awkward. Not to mention all the gossip it would cause.

If you still insist on pursuing him, perhaps you could make the first move and suggest meeting somewhere away from work.

Don't date anyone from work. When one breaks up with the other, there will be huge problems and someone will have to quit. Definitely not a good idea.

If he is single, make the move yourself. Ask if he'd like to grab a drink after work one day. Then just chat him up. Some guys are shy and need a little encouragement, even with girls they like.

If there is a connection and he doesn't persue you then he's married and trying to be faithful so find out more about him before making any moves.

Rule of thumb::: never date anyone at work ...because i don't know how,,,,but someone finds out and it "spreads like wild fire." believe me....i have worked at different places and they all are looking for dirty gossip..I hate to say it...I am not a gossip..If i hear something, i just "let it go"....sometimes it is vicious and false...that's how i was able to keep my jobs...if you CHOSE to pursue it .....keep it PERSONAL or have one of you quit...Best advice i know,,....good luck!

You probably won't like my answer...but it has been my experience that you shouldn't date anyone you work with. If it doesn't work out, everyone will end up knowing your business. Never play in your own back yard.

Good luck.

since he is older maybe he realizes that it would not work.

Don't go through work to find a date, if things go wrong you will have to look at that person for a long time or get another job.
