it depends on the person and how burnt you are, and if you use any kind of healing/soothing cream,...aloevera is the best, i use some clear green slimy stuff from aloevera and it works great at healing it faster and cooling the burning,...it works and feels better if you refrigerate it first

couple of days for the sting and soreness to go, and the skin usually starts to peel within a week. if you keep the areas really super moisturized the skin will peel off much easier and not in the dry flakey way. try using some diluted vinegar/water solution and use it to put cool compressess on the burnt areas and then moisturize like crazy(be very gentle). use something with aloe vera or banana boat has an after sun lotion that is good. if the burn is really bad go to the pharmacy and see what the pharmacist reccommends to take the pain out. there are sun burn sprays that have numbing agents in them to help take the pain away. if you have blistered badly you might want to see a dr.
if you notice any swelling see a dr as you might have sun poisoning. yes there is such a thing and i got it when my legs got sunburnt and they swelled a little. the dr. gave me some steroids to take out the swelling and pain. for the future make sure you use a sun screen even on cloudy over cast days!

It depends how badly you did it. I went to a beach in Mexico one time and got SEVERELY burned. That took a whole week and then I started to peel. Most sunburns are better after about 3 days. Keep your skin well lotioned or oiled and use aloe vera gel if you have it around. When you take a shower, only take a luke warm one. Hot is bad for the burn.

It will all go away within five days. It will last forever, if you get skin cancer when you are like 30 years older. With skin cancer, the doctor needs to dig out the infected skin. Use sun screen and don't get sun burned!
