This will not be all that simple for you but this is the best I can do for you given the elements you have described----you will have to settle for doing a much wider angle shot than you would normally go for here because good portrait work fills the frame with the subject-- but in this instance not being able to frame out in a close up manner you will have to take the shot wider and then my suggestion would be to take the shot into a photo edit program that allows you to crop in and go that route for the close up you are looking for----as far as lighting you should consider doiing even lighting slightly to 45 degrees to left or right of camera and don't make it very bright (even the less expensive digital cameras will read various light well ) If you don't want the bedroom background consider putting a nice bedspread up behind you--try not to use one that is busy with designs or super funky with the bright colors------hope these simple tips help-----I've been doing professional photography for many years and these basics have brought home the bacon time and time again

Take the picture in a mirror and crop the camera out in Photoshop or whatever photo editing software you have.
Or, set your tripod and camera up in various areas in your bedroom and take a whole bunch of shots. View them later on a computer and trash the ones that aren't good. That's the great thing about digital--it doesn't matter if you take a ton of crappy shots.

You get a cord that hooks up to the camera, in that way you can stand away from the camera at a distance and take your pic
sorry i forgot to tell you its a cable release
but if you have a good digital camera you might have a timer

DONT use a mirror! Just set the 10 second timer and take your own pic. It will take a lot of trial and error, and different heights you set your tripod at, but that's what you get with a cheap digicam.

Your camera should have a "remote" feature, kind of a timer. You set the timer, push the shutter, and get in position. You can usually set it for 3 or 10 seconds. Read your manual. : )

hmmm, ur in a tough situation... the best thing you can do is either use the timer on the camera, take the picture in a mirror (but dont put the camera too close to your face), or just hold out your arm while you take it

It may sound stupid, but why don't you sit a pillow or stuffed animal where you would sitting and try a couple of picture of it. You might have to zoom in and take a few pictures, but you should be able to get a decent picture that way. Good luck.

If you can connect your camera to the television and use the TV screen as your viewfinder, it will be much easier to take a good self-portrait.
