Typically after you've had braces, your orthodontist should have installed a permanent metal retainer glued to the backs of your lower and/or upper teeth. And/or given you a plastic "retainer" (tooth-guard) that is basically a mold of your teeth that you wear at night to hold them in place. If your teeth have started to shift, visit your orthodontist for a consultation. Most likely they will be able to provide you with a removeable retainer that will be much less expensive and invasive than getting braces all over again. My retainer (including the impressions from which they were made and the consultation) cost about $130. Also keep in mind that perhaps you can get new impressions of your teeth the way they are now that will keep them from getting more crooked, even if they don't reverse the slight movement that's already occurred. Slightly crooked teeth are interesting/sexy! Make it your quirky trademark. Think Audrey Tautou or Lauren Hutton. Good luck!

where's your retainer. you should have worn that for at least 2 years after braces until the bone builds up around the shifted teeth. and it is a good idea to keep it for whenever you feel you need to use it. your teeth will continue to shift unless you get a new retainer to shift them back and you'll probably need some adjustments on it until the teeth are back to where they were originally after the braces were removed. it wont be cheap, probably at least a couple hundred dollars to get a new retainer and a couple adjustment visits.

Wear your retainer! I had braces ages ago and still have wires glued inside my teeth 13 years later because my teeth are still moving. I know when I got mine on we had to sign a contract with the initial payment that said any ongoing costs were included in that. Have a look back over your records if you have them.

Did the orthodontist not give you a retainer. You should be wearing this every night. This will keep teeth from shifting

Well usually after having braces the dentist gives you a retainer, if you have that then it will keep your teeth straight or you could go to the dentist and get one from him/her. They don't cost much.

get a retainer! Now! I thought after I broke my retainer they wouldn't shift that bad, but they're almost as bad as before braces. Beg, borrow or steal, if you have to. I really regret not doing anything.

how many years did you have braces, if you just have it for like i dont know a year, then you have them remove then it suppose to be shifting, i been there i know, go to the orthodontist and ask them can you make a retainer( if you lost it you can get another one make), if yes then ask them to make one and wear it everyday until they said you can take them out.

Wear the retainer the dentist gave you. It's the only way to stop your teeth from shifting.

See your dentist again. You have already paid for the followup care.
