I think these people live in a world called every human's fantasy. The only way you would ever look like your avatar is if you are a super model. I doubt many super models spend time on line.

While you are absolutely right, haven't you later seen a picture of the person and realized that the avatar really does resemble them? This has happened to me very frequently.
I think that people really do try to make their avatar resemble themselves. I know I do - and I have fun playing around with different looks, outfits, etc. Very relaxing!!
Now, if only there were a way to get more facial expressions, a better smile instead of that stupid one that's almost our only choice or goes with the wrong shape of eyes....hmmmm, oh, Yahoo!Avatars team....may I have a word with you?

My avatar is a picture of my 2 yr old daughter,she looks alot better than me.Luckily she takes after my wife in the looks dept.

The avatar one creates for themselves is supposed to be an ideal representation of oneself. Unless one is not happy with oneself then an avatar is a way of false self improvement.

My avatar looks more like me than I do. Even my mother can't tell us apart. I sent her a picture of my avatar and she has it framed on her dresser.
She said she never imagined that I would turn out to be so handsome!

When you create your avatar, I would think that most people would include something that reminds them of themselves and then there are those who create what they would want themselves to look like and THEN there are those who are actually trying to disguise themselves or hide who and what they are!

No mine does not look something like me. My hair is truly darkish brown,pink, and black mixed for sure and it truly is not dyed blond...my eyes are brown/green. and that i'm truly a lighter epidermis tone than my avatar. I basically felt like making her look the way she does for relaxing.
