its because sometimes being gay means you will be prepared to live a single life and grow old alone unless you found somebody that will sweep you off your feet, thats a different story. difficult? no. life is just a matter of adjustment.

I'm a little confused on the question. Are you asking "why be a gay man, because it is so difficult?" or "why is being a gay man so difficult?" First, if you are a gay man then that's all you can be. You can't, and I stress this, can't change a persons sexuality....try very hard to understand that..ok? You can't just up and switch to heterosexuality...it just doesn't work that way. Being a gay man can be difficult as some of society just LOVES to beat the hell out someone who is different...some enjoy just being mean and hateful...it makes them feel safe. I on the other hand have realized that it is they (the mean & hateful) that have the problem..not me...AMEN.

I don't think being Gay is as difficult as it was 20 years ago. People just did not come out and say guess what I'm gay because there are people out there still who will beat the crap out of you for being gay. Then another problem gay men encounter is that everyone thinks gay men are flaming and dress up like women and act like a woman. Then you have to deal with your friends, family, co-workers. People will turn on you very quickly when you say I'm Gay. I feel bad for many gay people, it's just like when you fess up to being in an interracial relationship, all the poop hits the fan and some people just find it easier to keep it to themselves so they don't have to deal with all the drama.

It's not difficult. Many do it without even trying. The difficult part is living as a member of an oppressed group. But in time this too will pass.
