Could you clearly define "advertising"? Only in newspapers? Anywhere? Only the costs of the pure "information distribution" or also the production costs like desktop publishing and so on?

And what should the information help you at all? Most advertisement still are a local thing - with the exception of very few really international websites.

US advertising market is about $300 billion. Since US GDP is about $12 Trillion and world GDP is $100 trillion (i might be wrong about this figure but this is my best guess), my guess is that global advertising market is $2400 billion or $2.4 trillion.
