I think that death is an inevitability,
that it doesn't need to be feared,
that it's sad that the dying are separated from the rest of society not for their own comfort, but because the living are afraid to be around death, to watch the process of the body shutting down, to say goodbye to the people that have changed their lives.

It breaks my heart to see the extreme efforts parents will go to in order to keep their children from visiting dying grandparents, aunts, brothers, etc.

Death becomes so much more scary when children aren't given the chance to observe it and know it--it's like closing your eyes before the rollercoaster takes off--they end up at the funeral not knowing what to expect, thinking that a sleeping person will be buried and will awake in terror, confused of the changes in appearance that come with death, afraid that since the death of other loved ones could happen at any second because they were not given the chance to see that dying is generally a process that takes days or weeks, time in which one has a chance to say goodbye.

In many societies, families are given a chance to participate in the cremation of loved ones, lighting the fire and stoking it, helping to break down the bones into ash. Such cultures often believe in reincarnation, and that makes sense to me...if I were to watch a parent die, see the fleshy shell they left behind, then help to break it down into ash and dirt, scattered to the wind and water, I too would find it hard to believe that some part of them didn't live on in another form--even if only in my heart--because after watching their body disintigrate into the elements, I would still remember them, still feel their influence in my life/my choices, still see their smile when I looked in a mirror or in my child's face.

I hope someday, to act as a counselor to families dealing with death and grief. I have lost many loved ones, but the ones I loved the most were the ones I was able to laugh about at their funerals, sharing funny stories and playing practical jokes, because I know they would have appreciated my joy.

When I die, I hope people wear bright colors, and sing, and laugh, and dance, and create new lives...maybe even plant a forest.

I do not think about about it as it will happen when it comes. And it is not something I can control. I can how ever deal what I think will come after from my actions of my time here and now. And yes I feel there is God and my actions now effect many others and this is the truth I will leave behind. And one should not dwell on it or bring it sooner then it should come on its own. Enjoy life and stop to look at the ant on the rose and then smell the rose and not to worry its peddles will fall some day.

When you're dead you're dead. That's it. You don't go to heaven. You don't reincarnate. You don't go to hell. You just rot away and as the bible says, "they are dead, they shall not rise, all their memory shall perish. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust."

That is why you must live life to the fullest or at least try to make life better for those who are here now or are to come. Because eventually you will be dead and gone.

An unavoidable fact, but don't worry. You can get yet another life. This is treated as changing of old clothes to new ones.

I hate it. My good friend just died of a brain tumor this March. I'm glad he's in heaven but the rest of us are still really sad.
