I am always really bored at work. Here are some good tips if you work in an office: count the ceiling tiles, check email like every 2 minutes, answer yahoo questions, make frequent trips to the bathroom just to walk around the building, doodle and make flip cartoons on the post-it notes, use the office shredder to make confetti for birthday parties, test out every office supply just to make sure they still work, try to come up with as many possible quotes from Office Space as possible, face your computer screen and take a nap while looking like you are working, spider solitaire - the best game ever, paint your nails with highlighters, gossip at the watercooler, sharpen all your pencils until they can be considered as lethal weapons, crossword puzzles are easily concealable, and most importantly - just daydream about getting the heck out of there.

It depends on what you want to do 1 or 2 years from now. If you want to keep doing the same boring stuff you're doing now, then surf the net, and play internet games, etc.
If you want to be doing something more interesting in a year or two, try asking your boss for new projects that will help you get different work experiences and to learn more about your company.
Or try taking a course and use your down time at work to study up on something, whether for work or to develop a hobby talent.
I hope this helps!

Yahoo works but look for things to make your job better. if you sit in a cube or have your own office get some travel board games, they are small can be hidden easy and we all love games or bring in a gameboy, psp, ipod with video and watch a movie. Be creative

Find ways to WORK.
Tidy your office / work space.
Read trade magazines or journals.
Write down some work-related questions for your more-experienced co-workers and ask for their advice.
Go over the policy and procedure manual to see if there is anything you've forgotten since you last read it.

What I have found out in life is always be ready for a total surprise. Practice being the person that you want to be. Do you have the vocabulary that you want, the knowledge about finances? I promise that life will conspire to create for you the opportunity. You just have to be ready for it.

I always keep a sketch pad at my desk and make sketches of my surroundings or whatever is outside the window. Or I just doodle.
