They do, but one should take a very careful look at the two major parties. Most people here would unfortunately, see the Republicans as mean, uncaring, even downright evil but what is their major theme? Get the Government out of peoples lives, and let them make success for themselves.

What is the Democrats major theme? You are completely worthless and useless, and the only way you can make it is with Government hand outs.

Talk about 'talking down to us'

Public relations and pubic relations both are very important for our survival. Politicians know what they want to do, and they know what they want to tell the public.

Telling what they want to do in no way means what they really are gonna do. If you do whatever you say, you are not gonna be good politician, those who are on the side of honesty and truth they are teachers, lecturers and thos who take actions they are politicians.

Political campaign is just like an arranged marriage, you tell what you think is gonna please and excite the other party, you hide the real shortcomings and let the parties discover them by their own.

Unfortunately, it's a bit of both. It's quite a shock sometimes that some politicians have never really gotten the hang of public speaking or effective communication. It seems like they would have taken a class in that in college.

But sometimes things do need to be dumbed down to the public. It's sad the way most of us just don't understand domestic and international policies, and the way our legislative, judicial and executive branches work. And sometimes the policies really are just too complicated. That's why we hire (elect) people who are supposed to be experts to take care of them for us!

Yet another reason for better education for our kids, and more programs for our teachers to continue their education without placing an undue burden on them.

I think that politicians tell us what they think we want to hear. Now candidates that are running for office can be a different thing. There is a difference and you know it the minute you see it. Check out David VanOs and Hank Gilbert. These are real, qualified people running for office that are not politicians. The accept no money from corporations and they dont use consultants. No millions of dollars in their war chests. Very refreshing.

yes they talk down to us as well as flat out lie.

they are adept at conveying what they want people to see. i'm sure they are good at conveying themselves but they probably don't really care about their issues and if they do they are the vocal ones...after all being a politician is being a talker

They are not talking down to us. They know we are stupid (or how could they have been elected) and they are telling us what to think and the press reinforces their words. Watch Jeb Bush as he manipulates his way towards a presidential try. They convey their ideas very well in language that is within the ability of a 12 year old (but maybe not Dan Quayle) so that we, the bleating sheep, can understand their cosmic ideas and give them our vote.

that was a very well thought out question.it shows great insight and a high level of intelligence and innate reasoning.you are obviously in the high range on the IQ scores.most likely you are beautiful,an excellent conversationalist,a charming wit,and able to converse in at least a minimum of 32 languages.
i am running for a political office which pays only $75000 a year, but i will be spending around five million in propaganda, oops, excuse me,election funds donated by a really friendly bunch of people who expect nothing in return for their selfless and kind generosity.
in short, yes, they talk down to us,because they know that any one stupid enough to elect them can't be spoken to as an equal.
the only place they convey themselves is to the bank to deposit all the money they are stealing from us.

How can they talk down to us when most are beneath us.

Remember, our Constitution does not require any proof of intellect in order to become a Congress-person. It only requires residency and a certain age. They all can be raving idiots ( and some may already be such ) so long as they have attained the prescribed age and satisfy residency

Politicians are demagogues by nature, so they tend to regard voters as morons who will eat whatever they throw us. Many do though. Listen to a politician as you would to a barking dog. Most adults know better than to blindly follow a tainted citizen otherwise known as a "politician".

Other than that, you ARE hot.

Thanx.
