no it should not be a priority, but you can take your kids to outlets or places in the mall or stores like walmart and stuff that have the same styles for less, and realy thats what is more important to them is to be able to wear the styles. so do it for less money! they say it has to be name brand cause they dont know that you can find the same stuff that is not name brand, give them a choice , tell them its either stuff that is the same as name brand but is not name brand or you can just start buying clothes at the salvation army or something, you are the parent, let them know what is or is not exeptable for clothes.

peer pressure....
they see their friends with brand names and they dont want to feel like a loser or left out...
it's a different time now...
maybe also because parents nowadays give their kids more allowance so they have more $$ to spend on clothes.

I preferred carhart because it made me fell secure.
Also most name brand cloths are the ones who look cool.

now days , its about being popular and knowing who has money!!!
I dont buy my teen brand names, cant afford them, but try and keep her in good clothes. and try to do the best we can.

Cause everyone else is doing it- kids are impressionable and they are followers, they need to be taught to be individual beings.

They want to impress their piers, and be accepted. If they wear common bands (less expensive ones) they fear being ostracized.

well other kids are wearing them and because most of them are created by rap stars so they want to look like them
