I got my tattoo's back in February and they're looking a little dull. I'm tempted to put cocoa butter on them but my tattoo artist said not to but I can't really remember if he said not to during the healing process or at all. Any suggestions??

i got worried to when my started to go dull, but i think it's the whole healing process that does that to it, keep it moisturized as much as u can.. i used polysporin on mine while it was healing (eventually you would forget it's even there trust me) but from my own experience the colour will show itself soon enough...i actually did a little touch up on mine about 3 years after i got it, added a little more colour and so on...but coca butter shouldn't be a problem after it's healed, the tattoo artist prob meant while it's healing....

My tattoo artisit recommended Lubriderm, unscented moisturizing lotion.

And the previous post(s) are correct -- after four months your tattoo is healed, but you don't want to use anything that will "smother" the tattoo -- i.e. keep the skin from breathing.

As for the color fading, have this tattoo been in the sun, or have you done any swimming? Sunscreen is very important to keep the colors from fading.

Once your tattoo is fully healed you may put any type of moisturizer on it that you wish. To keep it looking really bright and vibrant use an exfoliating (but gentle) scrub on it once in a while to scuff away the dead skin, then moisturize and your tattoo should look as good as new!

If they are healed, you can use anything. Curel original works great and won't irritate a healing tattoo.

I used aloe vera lotion. It keeps it hydrated and adds nutirients to your skin.

when you bathe scrub them and you aren't supposed to put lotion on them while they are healing
