Yes, many teenagers are living more and more adult lives. A cell phone can be a very important instrument in making sure your child can reach you if he or she needs to in an emergency.

Also, giving your teenager a cell phone will show him or her that you trust him. Building trust, especially during the teenage years, is always a very important task.

yeah but it depends on what kind of teenagers are there. I first had a cellphone at age 11, no big deal really but the thing is once you have a phone you have to have the discipline on using it. (my parents confiscate it if I am so into using it). Yes I believe teenagers should have a cellphone but guidance from their parents comes along with it in order to teach them responsibly.

YES I think is a form of having a little of control and being involved in your child's life... Kids now a day have more activities and so do parents there has to be some kind of communication.

Sure why not? Their parents should know where they are in case of an emergency. I just think it's stupid of the parents to go out and buy them really expensive phones and the child has no other proof of independence (e.g. job, etc.)

I think that it depends on how old they are....if they have a job and a car then yes they most definitely should. If not then let them use the pay phones!
