It's not that difficult to learn, but some people do well with written instructions and illustrations, and others learn better by watching someone else.

This web site has free videos and is an excellent resource for learning how to knit.

Aww... There are couple of books available in any store that can take you step by step and teach you a lot of things: from the first stich to how to make outfits. If you're not sure which book is right for you, you can either talk to the employee of the book store or visit a fabric store in your area, they might be able to tell you everything you need to know: "sticks" (I don't know what they're called, but you used them to knit something) thread, books, designs, and etc.

I know a little bit how to knit. I can crochet a little bit better :) Both of them have their own challenges and adventages, and it's a lot of fun to know how to do them both :)

Have fun and best of luck to you.
