Well, there are many starving people in Africa and in parts of Asia and South/Central America. It is a poverty issue. The poverty is not just about the people but about what happened historically there. Take Africa -- first ravaged by slavery, then by colonization. Now many country's are dealing with the inevitable despotic leaders that come about to prey on people just trying to get on their feet. meanwhile racist public policies stop the US (yes US -- I love this country but we're not doing well in this area!) from helping right a wrong it was part of both at home and in Africa.
Meanwhile, the pictures will show the need -- in Africa's many developing countries.

It is a stereotype bernie. Black people are normally put forward as the ones that suffer the worst. When in fact there are people of other races and countries that go through much worse than what children in Africa go through. It is a subtle form of racism and also a subtle form of pity. I am sure if everyone came together we could feed all those starved people and change the stereotype.

Hi,
Bernie the biggest problem in Africa is corruption!!! The leaders of the countries take care of themselves and their families and don't give a **** about their people. And the funny thing is when it comes to ellection time the same starving people will still vote for them!!!! I stay in South Africa and a good example of the above is going on in Swaziland.... The king ordered him one of these Maybach cars that cost over R2.5 m in our currency, but his people are suffering from poverty. Look at Ethopia, one of the worst poverty stricken countries in the world but the king has got a fleet of cars, houses and private aircrafts!!!!!
Makes u think hey!!!!

They only show children & babies in the pics because it is emotive & people will give more aid.
Same thing with animal charities - they show cute little puppies & kittens.
Anything that tugs at the heart strings is guaranteed to bring in more donations than showing the ugly side of poverty & cruelty.

I don't really think it's racist. Real starvation doesn't exist in the US. We have welfare, shelters, soup kitchens, food banks and such.To show REAL starvation and poverty, it has to be that type of community. Not because they are black.

Congratulations!! You are starting to notice how the media works to manipulate your mind, showing you only what they want you to see. They always seem to show murderers, poor people and starving children as ____________. Community leaders, saviors and super heroes are shown as _____________. Terrorists are usually portrayed as _____________. You fill in the blanks.
The bottom line is there is one race that seems to come off as good guys, super heroes and religious crusaders. Guess who?
These things are slowly changing. It's good that you noticed.
