I feel like I've lost my best friend, after I made the decision for me and my love to go our separate ways. The relationship wasn't all peaches and cream and it felt like we were in it for all the wrong reasons. I told him that I no longer wanted to be with him, but I still need him as a friend. Is this possible and how can I get him to still be friends and talk occassionally. It hurts not hearing his ringtone and knowing that if I call him he probably won't answer

Give it some time, avoid the him for a bit, then call him one day and ask him to lunch as friends. Don't talk about your relationship, just talk about everyday stuff. Eventually it will get better, I have been there!

They say the only thing to heal a broken heart is time. They say it takes:
3 days to be able to even breath again,
7 days to feel again,
30 days to think clearly,
6 months to be over them,
1 year to go each day without thinking of them,
2 years to stop missing them,
and 3 years for the feelings to be completely gone.
However, if that's the case then I am in serious trouble because it has been 3 weeks and I still miss him so much it hurts to breath. At this rate I will be in this mess for approximately the next 21 years! I wish you the best!
